5th Grade "Coat of Arms"


5th Graders looked at traditional Heraldry, and discussed the importance of symbolism  
in the designs. We then set out to create a Coat of Arms that represented us and our families.

5th grade is making some waves

5th Grade Painting vs Printmaking 

5th grade studied the the wood block print Great Wave off Kanagawa, and breifly discussed the differences between printmaking and painting. Afterward they created these watercolor paintings with stamped Kenji symbols, inspired by Katsushika Hokusai's Prints.

5th grade draws their shoes!

5th Grade Shoes

















First the 5th graders learned about contour line drawings, and drew their shoes from observation. Next they finished them off by shading them in with a gradual transition from dark to light.  

Some nice results 5th grade!
